Impetus

The Energy meter

How it works, and what it is and isn't.

Not medical advice. Impetus is an AI productivity tool, not a doctor, therapist, or any medical or mental-health professional. Everything the Energy meter says is general, publicly available wellbeing information. It is not medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment, and not a substitute for a licensed professional. If you are struggling with your health, please talk to a qualified professional.

What it is

An optional bar at the top of your chat that reflects your current energy, from "Low" up to "I can do it all." It helps Impetus suggest the right next thing: something small when you're drained, something bigger when you're firing.

How your energy is set

Only Impetus sets it, by reading your conversation — what you say, your pace, the time of day. There is no slider to drag, on purpose: a meter you can hand-set is easy to game, which defeats the point. You influence it by talking to Impetus honestly.

Why it fades

Your reading decays over time. If it has been a few hours since you last checked in, it goes quiet and Impetus gently asks how you're doing.

Reminders

When the feature is on, Impetus sends check-in reminders. You choose the intensity (Gentle, Standard, or Relentless) and set quiet hours so it never pings you when you don't want it to.

Low-energy suggestions

When you're low, Impetus may suggest ordinary pick-me-ups — a glass of water, a snack, a meal, a coffee or tea, fresh air, a short break — and ask simple things like whether you've eaten or had anything to drink. These are everyday, off-the-shelf suggestions only. Impetus never recommends drugs, medication, supplements, or anything unsafe, and never frames food or drink as a treatment or cure.

High-energy nudges

When you're on a roll, Impetus gets more encouraging and nudges you to keep the momentum going.

Personalized treats

Impetus may occasionally ask your favorite snack or drink and remember it, so a pick-me-up can feel like a real reward. These are treats you already enjoy, never presented as medicine or a fix.

It's optional

The Energy feature is off until you turn it on, and you acknowledge that it isn't medical advice before it starts. You can turn it off any time in Settings, which also stops the reminders.

Your data

Your energy reading is tied to your account so it follows you across devices. See our Privacy Policy for how conversation data is handled.
